@timttmy I have some idea of where to "install" #muttonchop stuff and I wanted to see what you think, Do you have time?
-
@jezra yep, fire away.
-
@timttmy I'd like to move ~/.muttonchop to ~/.conf/muttonchop and default the web_server_public_dir to ~/.conf/muttonchop/public
-
@timttmy the result will be a less cluttered ~/ and it will be easier for users to swap Web UIs
-
@jezra I'll have a go. I need to learn how to install in $HOME without the user having to build the PKG by hand with the --root option.
-
@jezra Your thoughts please. I may write a script called muttonchop.1strun or something that a user can call to copy the muttonchop stuff to ~/.config/muttonchop/ . It looks like installing in a users $HOME is possible but not the done thing.
-
@jezra When I say possible. It looks like the user would have to download the PKGBUILD and run makepkg manually.
-
@jezra or even better add a --firstrun switch to #muttonchop #JustThinkingOutLoud
-
@timttmy so doing the "first run" would copy the web stuff to the user's dir? hmm, where would it copy from?
-
@jezra openbox does this in /etc/xdg/openbox/ so mabye /etc/xdg/muttonchop/ or even /usr/share/muttonchop/ or maybe you have somewhere else in mind?
-
@timttmy how about: default and install to /usr/share/muttonchop/public, and let users install to ~/.conf/muttonchop/public ?
-
@jezra so the user would have to run something like cp -r /usr/share/muttonchop/{public/,muttonchop.conf} ~/.config/muttonchop/ after install? Sounds fine to me.
-
@timttmy no, the user shouldn't have to copy anything... Unless the user wants to change the UI
-
@jezra So PKG installs to /usr/share/muttonchop/ ; User config is in ~/.config/muttonchop/ ; Other info can be put in the .install file and echoed on install. Yes/no # I wish I had mumble installed :)
-
@timttmy I don't have my new router configured for mumble yet. How about an IRC channel?
-
@jezra fine by me. #linuxoutaws? It's dead ATM
-
@timttmy #muttonchop should do the trick
