The Windows 7 upgrade advisor doesn't seem to want to run on my computer. Oh well. Guess I'll never know if I can run Windows 7.
-
I have to do Windows support at work so I thought of installing Win 7 at home. It's just ridiculously expensive so I stopped thinking that
-
But you're right. I should probably install Arch on it.
-
@gomerx I just installed Arch twice in the past 24 hours (first time 32bit by accident. :/) I may be able to do it w/o the wiki next time. :)
-
Arch has a way of letting you do things like that. ...and smiling the whole time. ;)
-
@nybill Yep, and I think I’ll be installing it on my HTPC this weekend as well. It’ll be fun. :)
-
I've failed to love Arch. I know it means I'm defective. I think my love of alternate window managers might be part of the problem.
-
@gomerx What, all those alternate window managers aren’t available in Arch? ;)
-
I find if you stray from the norm in Arch, things are much more difficult.
-
@gomerx What exactly is the ‘norm’ for Arch. ;) Everything I need is in either the repos or the AUR. Shouldn’t have to do much.
-
Apparently having another distro installed isn't normal because it makes the installer fall over. Also, LVM isn't normal. That's a problem.
-
@gomerx While I’ve got no experience with LVM yet, I didn’t have any issue installing it on my Eee alongside Debian & Fedora. In the end, I left grub up to Debian though.
-
Maybe they've fixed it. Last time I tried, the installer aborted when it found an existing grub install.
